Glyn Cannon

Detail of a painting by Glyn Cannon, a self-portrait in a dark room

Glyn's current visual artworks are focused on the tension between text and image, creating interactions and collisions between typography and painted images. Other work explores the use and abuse of text in everyday life, especially in signage, alongside interests in figurative work and portraiture, looking to use his background in story, text, and character to make work that creates intrigue and speculation.

He was born in North London and studied at UCL and Goldsmiths College. First working in theatre, primarily as a playwright, his work was staged at major London venues across the UK and internationally.

He has exhibited in a number of group shows in London and Cambridge. Glyn continues to write, usually short stories, many of which he has recorded as a podcast, The Noted Liar.
