Rose Scott

Rose Scott

Originally from Suffolk Rose now lives and works in Cambridge. She studied fine art at Norwich School of Art and completed her Art Teachers certificate at Goldsmiths College before going on to teach A level Art and Art History for many years. Through the medium of hand pulled mono silk screen printing she is interested in exploring the effect that certain colour combinations and compositions have upon the viewer. Her subject matter is broadly land and seascapes which she simplifies and partially abstracts in order to create images which allow the observer to rest, to be quiet and to enjoy just being in the moment. She builds her images up in layers adjusting colour and composition as the print develops until she is satisfied that she has captured the feeling she had when first seeing and experiencing the land/sea scape itself. Originally a painter she works on her prints in the same way as she does a painting except that she mainly uses a silk screen, squeegee and screen ink instead of brushes and paint.
