Michelle Siu is a former photojournalist turned cinematographer in the UK.
She recently joined St. Barnabas Press to practice a slow darkroom based 19th Century photographic practice. Her life-long love for analogue photography is strong.
For nearly a decade, she worked internationally as a photojournalist and her portraits of Thalidomide survivors in Canada contributed to national legislative change before transitioning into in 2019. She works across feature films and high-end television as a Camera Trainee and 2nd Assistant Camera, while also collaborating as a Director of Photography on independent shorts.
She is an educator with experience as an Associate Lecturer in cinematography at Anglia Ruskin University and has also taught GCSE in photography to teens experiencing trauma.
Michelle is drawn to collaborating with those who are building inclusive creative spaces for women and people of colour across film, photography and education.
